Bound by Salt and Iron by Mona Archer

Genre: Romantasy

I’m Azura, an omega and a sea princess, a mermaid with power over the Song of the sea and the elements.

I am also alone. Not lonely, because I decided long ago that I don’t need anyone. I’m perfectly happy on my own… I think.

Then I spot a black ship on the surface and my curiosity gets me caught in a net woven with iron that disrupts my magic and delivers me right into the hands of a bunch of pirates… in particular Captain Caspian and his two trusted and close mates, Jax and Archer.

They need me to locate and retrieve a treasure, it seems, and don’t care whether I suffer for it. It doesn’t help that my body appears inordinately interested in them, their handsome faces and ripped bodies.

Now is not the time, body. Not the time to want them, and certainly not the time to go into heat, okay?

Mermaids don’t tend to spend their heat with human alphas. Or humans, period. Humans are odd and have strange… equipment, compared to mermen.

I need to bargain my way out of the tank they’ve put me in and never look back – so please explain why, when I convince them to do so… I find myself swimming right back to them?

This is a standalone omegaverse why choose MMFM romantasy with a mermaid FMC and three hunky pirates MMCs. Enemies to lovers, they fall first, touch-starved FMC, boyfriends who are already boyfriends, too.

Bound by Salt and Iron: Standalone Why Choose Omegaverse Romantasy Bound by Salt and Iron: Standalone Why Choose Omegaverse Romantasy

Bound by Salt and Iron: This is a super spicy mermaid/pirate omegaverse quick standalone romantasy. I say super spicy, because that’s a big part of the plot. It’s MMMF (all at the same time) and MMM (all at the same time) because why have one partner when you can have them all.

These pirates capture our mermaid princess in an iron net, but they really feel bad about it. See, they’re trying to pay off a debt by finding a treasure that can only be retrieved by a mermaid who controls the sea and can sing the traps away. It goes quickly from kidnappers to lust to an “if you love something, let it go, and if it comes back, it is yours” kind of story.

I loved the magic the mermaid has, and very much loved the sentient ship and her connection to the captain. The alpha humans have magic too, and some of that worldbuilding was just here; accept it. When their magics combined, some really cool things happened, so conveniently.

This isn’t one of those heart-wrenching, how will your favorite characters survive type of romantasy. The plot is less heavy, and the spice is spicier. The mermaid is, after all, in her heat.

I loved the cover and the description of the beautiful blue mermaid with blue… everything. Definitely a fun book to read when you need something lighter and shorter (if you’ve been stuck in the 600-page epic romantasies spiral).

Cute quick read. Definitely a solid 3.5+ stars.

Thanks to DS BookPromotions for the chance to read this ARC.
