It’s been a few weeks since the most recent run of Shadowhunters episodes concluded. Hopefully, everyone is caught up. But if not, spoilers ahead!

I just watching the last few episodes of the season, but I feel like it’s been forever since the beginning way back in March. I went back through and read the episode guides. And wow. A LOT happened this season.

Here are some things I REALLY LOVED:

  • Evil Jace: Super fun and delicious. With Sebastian\Jonathon dead, we needed a new evil character to root for. And Jace totally fits the bill.  Between being the Owl in the beginning of the season, his love for Clary being destroyed, and the crazy makeout sessions with Lilith, that scene in Familia Ante Omnia when he whips off the face-mask at the end is crazy hot. Ok, sure, ripping out Valentine’s rib a few scenes later was not quite as hot. But I still vote Dom Sherwood in all the shows.

  • Alec developing into a great leader in the institute: I love Alec’s character development this season. This is especially evident in how he learns to accept Magnus’s immortality. And how he’ll do anything to save Jace, even if that means a fight to the end. Plus, Malec!

Don’t we all, Magnus. Don’t. We. All.

  • Valentine’s revival: Ok. Sure. This is probably controversial. But we need Valentine. Without him, there’s no climatic battle of good vs. evil at the end. Or at least that’s what I hope happens.
  • Brother Zachariah! It may have only been one scene, but it was a scene for the fans!

Here are some things I really DIDN’T LOVE:

  • Simon getting the Mark of Cain from the Seelie Queen: Clary’s the one who draws the ruins. What was the point in this change from the books? The reason for this was briefly hinted at in the last episodes, with Simon being a potential bodyguard for the Seelie Queen. But still. This better play out in the 3B season.

  • The potential Luke \ Maryse relationship: Just no. I get it. They are both now striped of their marks and outcasts. And really the only two “adults” on the show. But that’s no reason to put them together in a relationship.

My Favorite Episode:

The Powers That Be: Loved. Loved. Loved this episode. Loads of Malec. It’s amazing to me how well these two actors work together. They even make talking about shampoo exciting. But I especially enjoyed Magnus and Alec working together to fix the ley lines. Clary and Jace on a double date with Simon and Mia was also quite entertaining!

My Least Favorite Episode:

Salt in the Wound: This episode was more focused on Mia and Kyle’s history. And honestly, I just didn’t care. It feels like a placeholder, without much plot or action. Overall, meh for me.

My thoughts overall:

Yet another amazing season. I’m kind of bummed that 3B will be the last of the episodes. But also, kind of ok with it. The book series gets a little weird after book 3. And who knows where the TV show would go. Now, is it August yet! That was a crazy cliff-hanger at the end and I need some new episodes!
